Vietnamese

Vietnamese is the official language of Vietnam, spoken by almost 78 million people nationally and 2 million overseas.

The Vietnamese spoken by some expatriates is unsuitable for use in Vietnam, as it may retain pre-revolution vocabulary and turn of phrase.

Vietnamese uses Roman alphabet with diacritics. Corrupted text may display incorrect accents which may look correct to non-Vietnamese speakers.

Most DTP software packages handle Vietnamese text inconsistently, so it is essential that a Vietnamese-speaker proofs final artwork before printing. Output to PDF with embedded fonts can be problematic.
